Robert Claus' Obituary
Robert B. Claus, age 78, of North Ridgeville, died Sunday evening, May 8, 2005, at Center Ridge Health Campus, North Ridgeville; following a long illness.
He was born February 1, 1927 in Vermilion and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1963; having moved from Elyria.
Mr. Claus served in the United States Army.
He was a member of the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ, North Ridgeville.
He had been a truck driver his whole working career. He had worked for the Lehman Trucking Company, North Ridgeville from where he retired in 1985. He had previously worked for Chapin Trucking, Norwalk Trucking, Vermilion Transit and Parker Transfer.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local # 571 Lorain and a life member of the VFW Post # 1079, Elyria.
He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and working in the yard.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Lois J. (nee Struebe) Claus; daughters, Brenda (Charles) Hooper, of Amherst and Linda Claus, of North Ridgeville; sons, Allan Claus, of North Ridgeville and David Claus, of Sheffield Village; five grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Mount, of Lebanon, OH and Leona Diederick, of Cuyahoga Falls..
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard C. Claus, in 1986; infant daughter, Patricia Jane Claus; parents, Benjamin and Ruth Claus and sister, LaVonne Cherry.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville; where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM. Reverend Denver Daniel, pastor of the Christian Unity Church, North Eaton, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township; where the Elyria VFW Post # 1079 will conduct the military services.
