Robert "Bob" Allen's Obituary
Robert E. “Bob” Allen, 85 of North Ridgeville passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Kemper House in Olmsted Falls following an extended illness. He was born December 5, 1925 in Columbiana, OH and had resided in North Ridgeville since 1977 moving from Hawaii where he had resided for 3 years. He lived most of his life in Reading, PA. He had been employed by Federal Pacific Electric Co. in PA and NJ for 25 years and later as a specification engineer for Leviton Manufacturing Co. in Long Island, NY for another 25 years retiring in 1995. Bob was a member of Fields United Methodist Church in North Ridgeville and he enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling, gardening and snow skiing and he was a member of the Flying Dutchman Ski Club in Reading, PA. Bob enjoyed photography and had photographed numerous weddings for family and friends. He had volunteered on Mission trips to Africa University in Zimbabwe, Costa Rica and New Mexico. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth “Beth” (nee Jacobsen), daughters, Barbara Allen of Phoenix, AZ and Kimberly Sue (Craig) Englehart of Reading, PA, sons, Kenneth (Marie) Allen and Donald (Donna) Allen both of Fleetwood, PA, step-daughter, Jamie Beth (Marvin) Ratliff of Mobile, AL, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, his aunt, Virginia Detwiler and other relatives in Columbiana, OH. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Miriam and Walt Schweikert. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Fields United Methodist Church 34077 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville where friends will be received beginning at 10 A.M. Rev. Dr. Tom Joyce, pastor will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Fields United Methodist Church, Community Care of North Ridgeville or to Lorain County Parks.
