Rita Cowan's Obituary
Rita L. Brooks-Cowan (nee Schaeffer), age 86, of North Ridgeville died Monday at her home following a short illness.
She was born in Quicksburg, VA. She had resided in North Ridgeville since 2002 moving from Colonial Beach, VA. She had lived most of her life in Colonial Beach and Lexington Park, Maryland.
She was an active member of Colonial Beach Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cowan enjoyed sewing and was a foster mother to 44 children. She was a member of Eastern Star in Lexington Park and Colonial Beach.
She is survived by step daughter, Rita LaCotti of Joppa, MD, two daughters, Patty Marshall of Chapel Hill, TN and Barbara Furr of North Ridgeville, eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by Husbands, John Brooks and Marvin E. Cowan, her parents, Clyde and Lucille Schaeffer, four brothers, Clyde Medford Schaeffer, Rosco, Warren and Calvin Schaeffer, and one sister Maxine.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM at Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue Suitland, Maryland 20746 Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville is in charge of arrangements.
