Richard F. "Vence" Vencel's Obituary
Richard F. Vencel (“Vence”), age 87, of North Ridgeville, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Danbury Senior Living North Ridgeville surrounded by his family. He was born in Elyria and had been a resident of Elyria and North Ridgeville for the past 64 years. He owned and operated Vencel Construction for most of his career and was well known in the area for his talent at designing and building custom homes before retiring in 2002. He was a social member North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 and belonged to St. Peter Catholic Church. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, and traveling with his family, especially time spent at his family's cabin on Gray Lake in the Muskoka Region of Ontario, Canada. Richard was an avid Buckeyes, Browns and Guardians fan. He is survived by his daughters Gayle (Greg) Stanfield of Elyria, and Tracy (Paul) Franklin of Chagrin Falls; grandchildren Joe (Dana) Gessner of Flowery Branch, GA; Samantha (Nathan) Casey of Springfield, IL; Nick Franklin and Anthony Franklin of Chagrin Falls, OH; great-grandchildren Emerson Casey and Elliott Casey of Springfield, IL; and sister Linda Vencel of Avon. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou Vencel; daughter Vicki Dickerhoff; parents Frank and Loretta Vencel; and brother Gerald Vencel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Western Reserve at www.hospicewr.org.
