Richard A. Smith's Obituary
Richard A. “Dick” Smith, age 73, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Keystone Pointe in Lagrange. He was born on April 19, 1951 in Dowagiac, Michigan, and has lived in Elyria for the past 57 years, moving from Michigan. He worked as a purchasing manager for Willoway Nursery in Avon, retiring in 2011. Before his MS diagnosis in the early 2000’s, Dick was a Mr. Fix-It Guy, a true Jack of all Trades, and when he wasn't tinkering, he enjoyed camping and woodworking. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan for the last 20 or so years. He is survived by his daughter Michele “Chelly” (Adrian) Peyton of Grafton; son Jason M. (Katie) Smith of Wellington; grandchildren Taylor (Hunter), Alli (Clayton), Brianna, Cassidy, Max and Angel; great grandchildren Troy, Stella, Genevieve and another on the way in March; sister Lynn (Juan) Lozada; brother Dennis (Lee) Smith; many loving nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Patricia “Trish” (nee Guggenbiller) Smith; parents Dorothy (nee Tice) and Kenneth Smith; sister Jean (Barry) Walcott.
Memorial Service Monday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until time of service.
