Richard Gaines' Obituary
Richard L. Gaines, age 62, of Wellington, died Monday afternoon at Allen Medical Center, Oberlin, following a brief illness.
He was born in Nutter Fort (Harrison County) WV, and had lived in Wellington the past year; having moved from Grafton.
Mr. Gaines served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam war.
He worked many years for the Kroger Company, Solon, OH and for the last 17 years as a diesel mechanic for Wise International, Brookpark, OH.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 507 and the AMVETS Post 32, Elyria.
He enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, Bowling and playing cards. However, most of all he loved playing with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Lynda (nee Farley) Gaines; sons, Richard G. (Patricia) Gaines, of North Ridgeville, Ted A. Gaines, of Wellington, Michael S. Gaines, of Wellington, CW02 (Marines) Steven M. (Tiffany) Gaines, of Okinawa, Japan; daughters, HM2(Navy) Kerri E. Gaines, of Frederick, MD and Kelli J. (Robert) McGill, of Wellington; twelve grandchildren; brothers Huey J., Henry, James R., Jack and David E. Gaines.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Eve Irene (nee Kelley) Gaines and a sister, Virginia L. Coberly.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2- 4 and 7-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville; where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM. Reverend Charles Leininger, associate pastor of the Elyria Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow; with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1079, Elyria, in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria
