Richard "Dick" Waldecker's Obituary
Richard W. "Dick" Waldecker, age 80, of North Ridgeville, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at St. John Medical Center, Westlake.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville.
He served in the US Navy 1948-1949 and Navy Reserves from 1949-1956.
Dick worked as a heavy machine operator for F & J Builders for 15 years, retiring in 1980. He then went on to work at Spec Job Shop from 1980 until 1995. In 1996, he became a bus driver for the North Ridgeville City Schools where he worked for 10 years. He also co-owned and operated, with his wife, RV and Boat Storage on Mills Rd. in North Ridgeville for over 20 years.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1079, Elyria and Loyal Order of the Moose 778, Elyria.
He enjoyed working on Model-T cars and Corvettes, fishing, camping, wood working and playing BINGO.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Juanita (nee Gall); daughters, Laura (Jeff) Schroeder of Elyria Twp., Mary (Jeff) Standen of Westlake, Patricia (Donald) Kominek of North Ridgeville; grandchildren, Shelley (Craig) Chopak, Brian Schroeder, Lori Standen, Shawn Standen, Richard Waldecker II, Donald Kominek, Laura Kominek, Sarah Santiago; great-grandchild, Kade Chopak; sisters, Lois Waldecker of Oberlin and Janet Porrelli of North Ridgeville; and brother, William of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Waldecker; grandson, Jeffrey Schroeder; parents, Henry and Christine Waldecker; and sister, Mary Strouse.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 & 6-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Saturday at 1 PM in the funeral home.
The Reverend Dennis Sauer will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
