Raymond J. Tumbry, Sr.'s Obituary
Raymond J. Tumbry Sr., age 72, of North Ridgeville, passed away on April 30, 2016 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 16, 1943 in Cleveland and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 48 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He worked on the assembly line for General Motors, retiring in 2006 after 39 years of service.
Raymond enjoyed working on and racing cars at Norwalk Raceway Park and Thompson Drag Raceway. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, NHRA and IHRA drag racing, and the Renegade Racing Association.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cora (nee Dotson); son Raymond J. Jr. (Laurie) of North Ridgeville; granddog Bentley “Mr. B.”; sisters Mary (Mario) Sangregory and Philomena “Tootsie” Tumbry, both of Salem, IL; many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Stella (nee Faliszek) Tumbry; brother Florian “Butch” Tumbry.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday for a 9:30 a.m. prayer service preceding a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd. Interment will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
The family requests donations be made to the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, Ohio 44053.
