Raymond Secrist's Obituary
Raymond Secrist, 76, of Oberlin, died on Tuesday morning, July 1, 2008 at the VA Medical Center, Cleveland following a long illness.
He was born in Hannastown, PA and had lived in Oberlin the past 30 years; having moved from Elyria.
He worked as a truck driver many years for the Ohio Eastern Express Co., in Sandusky and retired from there in 1979.
He was a former member of the Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion.
Mr. Secrist served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville, the American Legion Post 30, Lorain and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary 9-4, Lorain.
He enjoyed fishing; especially with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Vicky) Secrist, of LaGrange; daughters, June (Robert) Cogar, Joan (Colin) Birch and Diane Smith, all of Elyria; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brothers, James Secrist, and Richard Secrist, both of Greensburg, PA, John Secrist, of St. Petersburg, FL and Eugene Secrist, of Ligonier, PA ; sisters, Ruth Wright, of St. Petersburg, FL and Eileen Wadsworth, of Cuba, MO; a close friend, Pat Coy, of Oberlin.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lottie E. (nee Forbush) Secrist, in 1979 and his son, Donald, in 2007; parents, George and Alice (nee Parfitt) Secrist; infant twin brothers and brothers, George, Robert and Melvin Secrist.
There is no visitation and burial is private.
