Raymond Schartman's Obituary
Raymond J. "Ray" Schartman, 95, of North Ridgeville, died on Monday, January 7, 2008 at the Welcome Nursing Home, Oberlin; following a long illness.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of N. Ridgeville since 1936.
He worked as an operating engineer for fifty years with several local excavating companies; including, C.P. Gilgenbach, Hart Blacktop Co. and Lorain County Excavating; and was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineer Local 18.
Ray enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was a former member of St. Peter Church, N. Ridgeville.
Mr. Schartman is survived by his sons, Richard "Rick", of N. Ridgeville and John "Jack", of Wellington; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita (1977); daughter, Anita Howard (2000); son Raymond John (2003); his parents, John and Theresa (nee Moran); brother, Lawrence and sisters, Laverne and Dolly Young.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 11:30 AM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville. Reverend Father Charles Ryba, will officiate the service.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
