Phyllis Nadine Lipaj's Obituary
Phyllis N. Lipaj, age 87, of North Ridgeville, passed away on December 12, 2013 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake after a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 27, 1926 in Cleveland and has lived in North Ridgeville for many years, moving from Bay Village and Crystal River, Florida.
Phyllis served as a Captain in the United States Air Force and went on to work as a Registered Nurse for the Bay Village City Schools, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Julie Billiart Church in North Ridgeville.
She enjoyed wine and cheese parties, cat shows in which she showed the Siamese cats she bred, shopping, going out to dinner, but nothing more than cooking and baking for her family and beloved grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edwin; daughters Cynthia Thiede and Nancy Jones; son John (Annette) Lipaj; grandchildren Bradley, Scott and Kevin Thiede, Patrick, Matthew and Sean Lipaj, Christopher and Stephanie Jones, Jacalyn Rogers and Cody Lawrence; great granddaughter Nina Jane Bruyere; brother Richard (Kay) McCollum; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Viola (nee Tucker) McCollum; brothers Ray, Ron and Larry McCollum; sister Nancy Sefchick.
Memorial Mass Saturday, December 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Rd, N. Ridgeville. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Interment will be private.
