Paul Edwards' Obituary
Paul Lawrence Edwards, 87, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Wesleyan Village following a long illness.
He was born on November 1, 1919 in Oberlin and had lived in Elyria the past sixty years.
He was a certified master barber throughout his working career. He retired in the 1980's. He also worked for Bendix-Westinghouse, Elyria from 1964-1978.
Paul was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Elyria.
He enjoyed jazz music, loved big bands and had been a professional drummer for several bands.
He served in the United States Army during WWII; in the Philippine Islands.
Surviving are his children; Craig Edwards, of Fayetteville, GA, Gregory Edwards and Jacqui Cross, both of Elyria; twenty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sons, Paul Edwards, Jr. and Lonnie Edwards; step-daughter, Anita Rhodes; parents, John R. "Jack" and Goldie Irene (nee Campbell) Edwards; brothers, Bill Edwards and Judge John Howard; sister, Goldie Campbell.
There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, March 27th at Noon, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 1611 Middle Ave (corner of 16th Street and Middle Ave.), Elyria; officiated by Pastor Shumate. A Celebration Dinner will follow at the John Howard Rec Center, 216 16th Street, Elyria.
Inurnment will be private at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
