Palmer Green's Obituary
Palmer Clyde Green, 86 of Elyria died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria following a long illness.
He was born December 23, 1920 in Blooming Rose, WV, and had lived in Elyria for the past ten years. Prior to that he resided in Oberlin.
Mr. Green was a World War II Army Veteran who was awarded the Regional Commemorative Medal of " The Jubilee of Liberty". He was engaged in the battle of D-Day in Normandy and the Liberation of 1944-1945.
He retired in 1983 after seventeen years of service with the Oberlin College maintenance department. Mr. Green was a member of the Oberlin VFW Post 6273, and American Legion Post 12, Elyria. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Elrita G. (nee Jordon); four sons, Clyde Green of Nova, Steven Green of Waycross, GA, Edward Green of Amherst, and Joe Green of Lorain; two daughters, Leaverne Reinhold and Polly Farlow both of Elyria; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Green of Elyria, Donald Green of Charleston, WV, and Cledith Green of Marietta, OH; four sisters, Leota Strong of Sanford, FL, Lois Adkins of Nitro, WV, Nina Papp of Elyria, and Wanda White of Charleston, WV; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Bessie Green; a granddaughter, Heather Green; grandson, Scott Arron Green, brother, Richard Green; and two sisters, Willa Carrico and Irene Butler.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM, Friday, January 12 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday. Rev.Alan Westmoreland, Pastor of Calvary Apostolic Church, Elyria will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where the Elyria VFW Post 1079 will conduct full military honors.
