Nina Brown (nee Sams)'s Obituary
Nina Mary Brown (nee Sams), 83, of Elyria, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. She was born in Procious, WV on April 29, 1928 and graduated from Clay County High School, WV in 1949. She moved to Lorain County in 1951 with her husband.
Nina enjoyed working with children and sharing Jesus with them. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at First United Presbyterian Church for many years and was involved in Child Evangelism Fellowship teaching Bible Clubs. She enjoyed Women’s Circle at First United Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for many years and most recently attended New Life Baptist Church. She loved to sew and made many dresses and gowns for her family. She enjoyed each generation of children and rocked them, sang to them, and played with them. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and vegetables.
Survivors include her three daughters, Dicena Brown of Elyria, Janice (Gary) Cahill of Elyria and Rebekah (Stephen) Velthuis of Aguadilla, PR.; her six grandchildren, Geri Miller, Gary Cahill, Stephen, Robert, Samuel and Bethany Velthuis; and her great grandson, Billy Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband Denvil of 56 years in 2008; parents Alfred and Frona Sams; sisters, Malissa Kerr, Nona Norman, and Shirley Farmer; and brothers, Clotten, George, and Adrian Sams.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 5 – 8 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. A Funeral Service will be held from the funeral home on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11 AM. Mr. Gary Cahill will officiate. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
