Nancy Jerline "Jeri" Helms' Obituary
Nancy Jerline “Jeri” Helms (née Walter), age 88, of North Ridgeville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Born in Concord, NC she resided in North Ridgeville for the past 50 years. She had previously lived in Columbus, OH and Cleveland, TN.
She was a co-Pastor for 58 years, starting at Joyce Avenue Church of God in Columbus from 1961-1976, then North Ridgeville Church of God from 1976-1982 when she founded with her husband, Cathedral of Life in North Ridgeville where she was co-Pastor from 1982 until retiring in 2004.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, walking in the park, reading and just being with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, John R. (Vanessa) Helms of Marengo, OH, S. Todd (Vicki) Helms of Elyria; 9 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, John; granddaughter Cindy Helms; parents Minnie I. (née Alman) and Martin M. Walter; 7 sisters and 5 brothers.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Cathedral of Life with Pastor Mike Payne, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorial contributions are suggested to Cathedral of Life Ministries 5375 Jaycox Rd, N. Ridgeville, OH 44039.
