Myron Cordell Burgess "Cordell"'s Obituary
Myron Cordell Burgess “Cordell”, age 92, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at his home.
He was born on December 18, 1929 in Crossville, Tennessee and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 74 years, moving from Crossville. He worked as an assembler at Ridge Tool, retiring in 1992 after 43 years of service.
Cordell built two homes on his property in North Ridgeville, starting with a smaller home and building a larger home for his family. He was a great cook and was known by his entire family for his cornbread. The summer months would find him working in his large garden and tending to his meticulously cared for lawn and yard. Born during the depression, Cordell was one to never miss a bargain while shopping! His family was his everything, and even vacations centered on going back to his home state of Tennessee.
He is survived by his grandchildren Joy Greene of Vermilion, Cindy (Ken) Perry of North Ridgeville, Jim Greene of Elyria and Shawn Ray of Elyria; great grandchildren Derek, David, Nikki, Hailey, James, Makenzie and Dalton; great-great grandchildren Oakley and Parker; siblings Millie (Dwight) Felton, Ellis (Jeanie) Burgess, Eleanor (Joe) McSherry, Jerry (Eileen) Burgess, Bob (Diana) Burgess and Linda Rowe; many nieces and nephews.
Cordell was preceded in death by his lifelong love and wife of 72 years, Betty (nee Smith); daughters Bonnie Ray and Kathryn Burgess; son-in-law Larry Ray; parents Nolan and Sarah Belle (nee Vanwinkle) Burgess; brothers Arnold, Venus, Leon and Stanley Burgess.
Funeral Service Friday, September 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Randy McKinney will officiate. Interment will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
