Morley Marr's Obituary
Morley A. Marr, age 83 of North Ridgeville died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at North Ridge Health Center, North Ridgeville following a long battle with Alzheimer Disease.
He was born May 2, 1922 in Buffalo, NY. He had resided in North Ridgeville the past 2 years having moved from Cape Cod where he had lived 12 years. He had previously lived in Westlake and Lakewood.
Mr. Marr was a Sargent in the US Army Air Corp during WW II where he was the Radio Man on a B-25. He received a Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars, Air Combat Medal and the WW II Victory Medal.
Mr. Marr wrote a book titled, "His Odyssey" of his WW II Memoirs.
He was a member of First Congregational Church of Wellfleet and the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lakewood and the Adams Masonic Lodge A.F. and A. M. in Wellfleet where he was a past Chaplin.
He enjoyed Acting with the Amateur Theater at the Beck Center in Lakewood and was a Ham Radio Operator, call sign NE8B.
This past July 21st he and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends.
He worked as a Personnel Director for A.L.C.O.A, Cleveland for 19 years, retiring in 1989..
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mariella; 3 sons, William Marr of North Ridgeville, James M. Marr of Medina, David M. Marr of Cape Cod; daughter, Diane Leonard of Rome, NY; eight grandchildren, three great grandsons; and one Sister, Eva Howse of Roseburg, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Mary Edna Marr, brother Loren C. Marr and sister, Shirley Falzone.
Private services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman. A public memorial service will be held on Friday October 21 at North Ridge Apartments 35900 Westminster Ave., North Ridgeville at 2PM.
