Mickey Alan Smith's Obituary
Mickey Alan Smith, age 53, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 3, 1963 in Cleveland and has been a resident of Elyria for the past 9 years, moving from North Ridgeville. He worked as a truck driver for West Asphalt and Premier Asphalt Companies, retiring in 2006. He achieved his dream of working for NASCAR Truck Series Pit Crew.
Mickey’s love for cars would often find him working on vehicles and following NASCAR. He enjoyed playing softball on a traveling team for 20 years, watching MMA and listening to country music.
Mickey is survived by his sons Corey of Fairview Park, Kyle of North Ridgeville and Jeremy of North Ridgeville; mother Alma C. (nee Haynes) Smith of TN; brother James Smith; his girlfriend Terri Johnson of Toledo and her children Angela, Amber, Alyssa, Amanda and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by his father Kelly E. Smith; brother Roger Smith, and his fur baby sidekick, Bandit.
Funeral services will be held in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Thursday at 7 pm where family will receive friends from 4 pm until time of service. At Mickey’s request, please wear jeans and t-shirt. Rev. Jim Hurst will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
