Michael Yuhas' Obituary
Michael Yuhas, age 89, of Olmsted Township, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Southwest General Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born on October 27, 1927 in Herbert, PA and has been a resident of Olmsted Township for the past 56 years, moving from Lorain and Elyria. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and went on to graduate from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He worked as the crew chief of airline maintenance for American Airlines, retiring after 43 years of service. Michael has been a member of the Cross Community Church since 1957, was a member of the American Legion, Post 12 in Elyria, the Ohio Farm Bureau and the Aircraft Owners and Operators Association.
Since boyhood, Michael always had a fascination with aeronautics, and was fond of building model airplanes. He enjoyed raising pigeons and rabbits, and always had a beagle. He hunted often with his family, but really found his joy in farming his 10-acre plot in Olmsted Township.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (nee Snyder); sons Michael J. Yuhas of Olmsted Township, David O’Connor of PA and Joseph Davis of North Royalton; 2 grandchildren; sister Rebecca DelTurco of Amherst; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Mary (nee Ziots) Yuhas; sisters Helen Wargo, Roseanne Roupe and Joanna Barth; brother Anthony Yuhas.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and at the Cross Community Church, 525 N Abbe Rd, Elyria, 44035 on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a 11:00 a.m. service. Rev. Randy McKinney will officiate. Interment with military honors will take place in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
