Michael E. Schestag's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Edward Schestag on January 11, 2026. Through his journey of 48 years, he brought us humor, laughter and loyalty. Mike’s big, generous heart, his exuberance and passion in life made him the glue for his family and life-long friends.
Mike deeply loved his two daughters, Emerson and Sadie. He was so very proud of them, and they were the apple of his eye. Mike attended Elyria Schools and graduated from Elyria High School in 1996. He played all sports, but football and baseball were his favorites. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management at Ohio University and officiated sports in several leagues.
Mike is survived by his beloved children Emerson and Sadie (Kara). Parents Rosemary and David (deceased); brothers Conrad (Sarah) and Bradley; Fiancé Tonya and daughter Ellie; late Grandparents Eleonor, Marjorie and Justo; late uncles Edward and James; Aunts Judy (deceased), Kathleen, Eileen (Jeffrey) and Sandy; Uncle Michael; dearest nieces Bailey and Bella, cousins Audrey, Jill (Franko), Renee (Dean), Patrick (Caitlin), Emma, Ian, Cathy (Duane), Bill (Karren) and numerous other close relatives and life-long friends. Michael was baptized at the First United Methodist Church in Elyria and believed in God. We know he is now welcomed by his Heavenly Father and is in a better place where every tear and sorrow is wiped away.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 4PM at the Bogner Life Celebration Center, 7295 Greenlawn Drive, North Ridgeville. Fellowship will follow. Rev. Alan Jenkins will officiate.
Michael will be remembered for his humor, loyalty and his great love for family, friends and animals.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations are made to Friendship APL at https://friendshipapl.org/ to honor Michael's memory.
