Michael Pignatiello's Obituary
Michael Angelo Pignatiello, age 84, of Amherst passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at Hospice of Medina County at the Inn following an extended illness. He was born July 10, 1926 in Cleveland and had been a resident of Amherst since 2001 moving there from North Ridgeville where he had resided since 1977. He had also lived in Brooklyn Heights for a short time. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He had been employed as an Industrial Arts Teacher in the Cleveland Public School System, Lincoln Annex. Retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville. Michael was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the International Airlines Travel Agent Network. He enjoyed traveling with his family and being active with the Brooklyn Heights Senior Citizen Community. Survivors include sons, Dale (Abigail) Pignatiello of Oakley, CA and Michael G. (Karen) Pignatiello of Brooklyn Heights, daughter, Adele G. Pignatiello of Brunswick, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brothers, Albert (Lita) Pignatiello and Richard (Elaine) Pignatiello and a sister, Lucy (Howard) Studer of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanore in 1977, by his parents, Antonia and Rocco Pignatiello and by brothers, Dominic, Julius and Danny Pignatiello. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst on Wednesday August 25, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Private burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
