Meta Schexenider's Obituary
Meta J. Schexenider, age 98 of Avon passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Main Street Care Center, Avon Lake following a brief illness. She was born April 17, 1910 in Berea, OH and has been a resident of Avon for the past 7 years moving there from Avon Lake where she resided since 1945. She had been employed as a secretary for the Avon Lake School System and later for the North Ridgeville School System. She was a charter member at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Avon Lake where she taught Sunday School and served on the Altar Guild. She currently was a member of Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church in Avon. She was a member of the Professional Women's Association in Avon Lake and served as a Red Cross volunteer. Meta enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening. People marveled at her beautiful flowers especially her peonies. Survivors include her daughter, Elise M. Pitts (Jim) of Avon, grandsons, Douglas E. Pitts (Jill), J. David Pitts, Jr.(Kelly) and Mathew A. Pitts (Jennifer), granddaughter, Michelle R. Pitts and great grandchildren, Brianna, Megan, James D. III, Madison, Katelynne and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband Cleo "Lee" Schexenider in 1969, by her parents, Elise and Soren Lawson Christofferson, by brothers, S. Tony, Carl, Arthur, Albert, Peter and Louis Christofferson, by a sister, Marie Christofferson Morton and by two siblings in infancy. Friends will be received from 3-7 P.M. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, November 10 at the Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church 36465 Chester Rd., Avon, OH 44011. Burial will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery, Avon. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church.
