Mary C. Tutko's Obituary
Mary Catherine Tutko (nee Flickinger), 82, of Avon Lake, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Independence Village in Avon Lake after a lengthy illness. She was born June 15, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Avon Lake for the past one and half years. She and her husband had also lived in Hilliard, Ohio; Tarpon Springs, Florida and Mansfield.
She had been a parishioner at St. Brendan's parish in Hilliard, Ohio as well as St. Peter's in Mansfield. She and her husband, Jack, owned a flower shop in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Mary had also worked as a sales associate for Lands End up until the age of 80.
In her free time, she loved planting and arranging flowers. She was also an avid gardener and loved birds - particularly hummingbirds which she fed faithfully. She loved her Ohio State Buckeyes! She looked forward to every holiday and birthday celebrations. She enjoyed family vacations with her siblings and children. What made her most happy was spending time with her grandchildren. Cheering them on at their sporting events and activities through years as their number one fan.
Mary never met a stranger, she always managed to find a connection with whomever she spoke with. She would always say, 'I'll be darn, what a small world!'. She was loved so much by everyone that knew her.
