Mary C. Nowicki's Obituary
Mary C. Nowicki (nee McDermott), age 77, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 21, 1948, in Lorain and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 23 years, moving from Lorain. Mary worked as a schoolteacher in the Lorain City School District, retiring in 2010 after 40 years of teaching. She was a member of St. Clarence Catholic Church in North Olmsted. Mary enjoyed going out shopping, loved to indulge on sweets and pastries and going on cruises with her husband Robert, as well as with her friends. A proud grandmother, she could often be found cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events.
Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert; daughter Jen (Mark) Heinrich of Avon; son Mike Nowicki of North Ridgeville; grandchildren Alex, Tyler and Brooke; brother Mike (Pat) McDermott; sister Jean Berens; sister-in-law Mary Kay McDermott; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret (nee Mackin) and Joseph McDermott; twin brother Leonard McDermott and brother Jack McDermott; brother-in-law Jerry “Bo” Berens.
Memorial Mass Monday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clarence Church, 30106 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, where family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Rev. Neil Kookoothe will officiate. Interment will be private.
