Mary M. Martinez's Obituary
Mary M. Martinez (nee Rivera), age 90, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland. She was born on January 4, 1934 in Cleveland, and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 30 years, moving from Cleveland. She was a member of St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville.
Mary was truly loved by everyone and reciprocated that love to all she knew. She had a way of making you feel like they were the only person in the room, even at the large family gatherings she loved to attend. Throughout her life, she kept fit, whether through exercise, swimming or the sauna. She was incredibly close to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved to spend time with her husband cooking traditional Mexican meals for her family. One of her favorite pastimes was going to Bingo with her husband Richard and her children.
Survivors include her children Richard (Debi) Martinez Jr. of North Ridgeville, Barbara (Rick) Stedronsky of Columbia Station, Mark Martinez of North Ridgeville and Rachel (Daniel) Chazinski of Parma; grandchildren, Deanna Exley, Chelsey (Mark) Sabatino, Shelby (Kyle) Buehner and Joshua Martinez; great-grandchildren, Luca and Lorenzo Sabatino; brothers John (Dolores) Rivera, Robert Rivera and Magdaleno (Jamie) Rivera; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard Martinez Sr.; daughter-in-law Adina Martinez; parents Luz (nee Moreno) and Pedro Rivera; many brothers and sisters; sister-in-law Sharon Rivera.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 23 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, and on Monday, where a 9:30 a.m. prayer service will proceed a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to St. Peter Church.
