Mary Kearnes' Obituary
Mary Ellen Kearnes (nee Coughlin) age 73, of North Ridgeville, passed away early Saturday morning, August 15, 2009 at her home following a short illness.
Born in Cleveland, she had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1999 moving from Fairview Park. She previously lived in Brunswick and New Milford, New Jersey for 15 years.
Mary Ellen was the Valedictorian of her class in 1954 at St. John Cantius Catholic High School in Cleveland.
She started her business career as a bookkeeper for the largest chain of "pay for parking" lots in the Cleveland area and was also a salesperson in the men's department for May Company while she was still in high school. She later worked as an executive secretary for Cleveland Paint and Coatings Association.
She was the owner and operator of North Park Office Services in North Olmsted for several years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member, greeter, Eucharistic Minister and counter of collections at St. Clarence Catholic Church, North Olmsted, a member of the Galilean Club and former member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ralph; daughters, Ellen Marie (Mike) Coulouris of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, Laura Jane (William) Venter of Beachwood, New Jersey, Rosemarie (Tony) Bosi of New Milford, New Jersey; Victoria Anne (Carl III) Kessler of Avon; 16 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Michael (Shirley) Coughlin of Avon; sisters, Barbara Ann (Thomas) Escovar and Helen Jane (Hubert) Gillespie both of Bay Village.
She was preceded in death by grandson, Brenden Venter; brother, James T. Coughlin and parents, James and Helen (Timko) Coughlin. Funeral Mass 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at St. Clarence Catholic Church 30106 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Friends may call Monday from 5-8 P.M. at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville.
