Mary Ann Douthit's Obituary
Mary Ann Douthit (nee Van Niel), age 67 of Sheffield Township passed away Thursday January 10, 2019 at UH Elyria Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born in Lorain and had resided in Amherst and Sheffield Township for most of her life.
A graduate of Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst she went on to St. Joseph School of Nursing and LCCC where she earned a Bachelor of Nursing.
She worked as a RN for St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain, Drs. Leslie and Moroni and finally with Kaiser Permanente in Parma when she retired in 2008.
Mary Ann was a member of Vermilion First Assembly of God, enjoyed traveling with her husband, studying history, was an avid Cleveland Sports Fan and enjoyed cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Surviving are her husband of 33 years, William “Bill”, sisters, Kay Ellen Van Niel of Lorain, Lizbeth (Jim) Vargo of Vermilion, Rebecca” Becky” Harmych of Amherst, brother, Mark (Sharon) Van Niel of Killington, Vermont and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Catherine (nee Wagner) Van Niel, and brother Paul Van Niel.
The family will receive friends Monday January 21, 2019 from 1 PM until time of memorial service at 2 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Inurnment will take 10:15 AM Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
