Mary Ann R. Gibbons' Obituary
Mary Ann R. Gibbons, age 76, of Elyria, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday January 29, 2023, surrounded by family.
Born in Cleveland, she had resided in Elyria for the past five years. She previously lived on Catawba Island and in Bay Village for many years.
She was a licensed cosmetologist after high school prior to working at Bay Village City Schools. She also worked for the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department in food service from 1992-2005.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and former member of Immaculate Conception of Mary, Port Clinton
One of her favorite past times was boating and cruising with her husband, and she was First Mate of the Commodore of Westlake Yacht Club in 1972. She was a member of Red Hat Society, Catawba Island. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends, doing crafts, especially ceramics, playing Mexican train dominos with friends and swimming at the Y.
Mrs. Gibbons retired from Bay Village City Schools in 1991 where she worked in food service.
Surviving are sons Sean (Leah) Gibbons of Bay Village, Kevin (Erin) Gibbons of Catawba Island, daughter Colleen (Brett) Milner of Amherst, grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle and Lauren Milner, Brooke, Grace and Connor Gibbons, twin brother, Dan (Virginia) Deeks, brothers, Ray (Jana) Deeks, Walter "Lee" (Maryann) Deeks, Gerard (Elaine) Deeks, Charles (Marjorie) Deeks, and her sister, Rita Hogan.
She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Gibbons in 2004, parents Walter L.and Pearl M. (nee Fassinger) Deeks, brother, Joseph Deeks, sister-in-law, Rosemary Deeks.
Mass of Christian burial will take place 11AM Friday February 3, 2023 at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road N. Ridgeville, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until the time of the Mass.
Interment will follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department, 4730 E. Cemetery Road Pt. Clinton, Ohio 43452.
