Marvin W. Ray's Obituary
Marvin W. Ray, age 83, of Parkersburg, WV., passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at WVU Medicine Camden Clark surrounded by his family. He was born in Crossville, TN and had been a resident of Parkersburg for the last 19 years and formerly of Elyria and North Ridgeville. He was a member of Teamsters Local 407 and Masonic Lodge 663 Frank S. Harmon and had 50 years in the Free Masons. He worked as a truck driver for Westside Movers, Truck-Rail Inc and PPG Corp., retiring in 1993.
Marvin enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, riding quads and spending time with his family. He drove sprint cars and race cars for many years and was known by many as “Mr. Magoo”. He took pride in his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He made sure to have a nickname for all of them, Taterbug, Scooter, Thumper, Half-pint, Pokey, Opey Taylor, Buzzy, Iggy and Juju.
He is survived by his children, Gerald (Johna) of Elyria, Debra (Rick) Bristow of Elyria, Ronald (Maryann) of Olmsted Falls; grandchildren, April, Jenelle, Janette; 3 great- grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren; sister Phyllis Jirousek of Grafton and companion of 19 years, Pauline Sherwood.
He was preceded in death by his wife Clara; granddaughter, Sarah Bristow, parents Earl and Nannie Ray; brothers Larry, Avery and Francis Ray; sister Dorothy Ray. A private graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
