Mark Scholtz's Obituary
Mark J. Scholtz, 60, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic, after a brief illness. He was born in Cleveland, he had resided in Elyria the past 11 years after moving from Lakewood.
Mr. Scholtz graduated from The Ohio State University and spent his professional career as a "Basic Skills" teacher at St. Mel's, St. Mary Byzantine, St. Jerome and St. Thomas Aquinas Schools, Cleveland, before his retirement in 2009. When Mark wasn't teaching he enjoyed painting, gardening, collecting comic books, hiking, travel, rock & roll, watching Jeopardy, cheering on the Buckeyes, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed studying history and was eternally grateful to our veterans.
Survivors include his wife Diane (nee Policy); sons, Christopher (Jennifer) Massie of Boca Raton, FL, Bryan Massie of Elyria and Errol Scholtz of Elyria; daughters, Melissa (Tim) Winkles of Elyria and Margot Scholtz of Cleveland; mother, Louise Scholtz of Mentor; three grandchildren, Isabel, Jaden and Sophia, brothers, Richard (Bonnie) Scholtz of South Carolina and Dennis (Darlene) Scholtz of Strongsville; and sister, Diane "Dee" (Don) Krupka of Mentor. He was predeceased by his father Richard.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where prayer services will be held Monday, October 11, 2010, at 11:00 A.M., followed by a 11:30 A.M. funeral mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Reverend Bob Franco, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
