Marilyn Gilfether's Obituary
Marilyn L. Gilfether, age 86 of Olmsted Township, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in St. John West Shore Hospital following a short illness.
She was born September 27, 1919 in Cleveland. She had resided in Rocky River the past two months having moved from Olmsted Township. She had previously lived in North Ridgeville and Elyria.
She was a graduate of Lakewood High School.
Mrs. Gilfether operated a Lawson Store in Elyria from 1960-1971. She then owned and operated the Log Cabin Tavern-Restaurant in North Ridgeville with her husband from 1971 until retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed volunteering at EMH Regional Medical Center, crosswords puzzles, playing cards, shuffle board and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan.
She was a former member of St. Peter Church, North Ridgeville, and St. Vincent dePaul Church in Elyria where she served two terms as President of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was currently a member of St. Mary of the Falls Church.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Sharon Aulisio of Elyria, Sally Balog of North Ridgeville, Kathleen Yager of Lakewood; 2 Sons, Steven Gilfether of Chicago, Kevin "Casey" Gilfether of Elyria; 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and her Sister, Carol Prasek of Ellenton, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Robert F. Gilfether, her Parents, Robert P. and Lucile M. Stone, daughter, Patricia Ann Gilfether, and great-granddaughter, Emma Claire Aulisio.
Friends will be received 2-5 PM, Sunday, April 2 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:15 AM Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Falls Church 25615 Bagley Road, Olmsted Falls. Reverend Mark S. Ott will be the celebrant.
Interment will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
