Lyle Bert Stursa's Obituary
Lyle Bert Stursa, age 93, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following a 2-month illness.
He was born in Brownhelm Twp. on November 11, 1927 and graduated from Clearview High School in 1946 after which he served in the US Army Air Corp.
He retired from Kerr Beverage but failed retirement and held multiple other jobs for entertainment. Primarily for the joy of saying “I quit!”
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and a loyal member of the Teamsters for many years.
He was affectionately known as the Mad Mower in the neighborhood. Lyle’s lawn was perfectly manicured, which ironically led to his death, but his lawn was a sense of pride, and he took great joy in its care.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances (nee Luczkowski), son, Scott Stursa of North Ridgeville, daughter, Robin Stursa of Sheffield Lake, granddaughter, Karly Dress of Berlin Hts., bonus granddaughter, Hailey Freeman of Fostoria, 3.5 great-grandchildren and loving neighbors, Ed and Sheila Merhar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margreta (nee Brown) Stursa, brothers, Melvin and Harley Stursa.
Friends may call Monday, from 10AM until the time of Memorial Service at 11AM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Fr. Bob Franco will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, North Ridgeville. VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct Military Honors.
