Louise Ann Dailey's Obituary
Louise Ann Dailey (née Orosz) went home to the Lord on July 2, 2025, in North Ridgeville,
OH, at the age of 82.
Known to most as “Lou”—or lovingly as “Weez”—she was born in Cleveland, OH, on
September 16, 1942. She attended Regina High School in South Euclid, then headed to Dayton,
where she graduated from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1963. That same year, she
married the love of her life, Jim Dailey, and off they went on life’s big adventure.
While Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969 in Port Clinton, OH, Lou balanced life as
an Army wife and nurse—and quickly added “Mom” to her résumé, with three daughters
arriving during those busy years.
After the Army days came what the family affectionately called “the moving years,” as Jim’s job
with Union Carbide/Eveready Energizer had them relocating all around northern Ohio—Bay
Village, Fremont, North Ridgeville, Avon Lake, Catawba, Sheffield Lake, and Bowling Green.
In 2012, Lou and Jim moved to The Villages, FL, to soak up the sunshine and enjoy their golden
years together—dancing in the square, making friends, and spending time with family. After Jim
passed away in 2019, Lou moved to Punta Gorda, FL, to be closer to her daughters Kathleen and
Karen. In early 2024, she returned to Ohio and was so happy to be back “home,” if only for a
little while.
Lou wore many hats in her life—nurse, pastoral assistant (especially helping cancer patients and
their families), Montessori classroom aide, caregiver to the retired Sisters of Mercy, and even
international volunteer when she traveled to Bosnia in 1996 to support refugee families and
orphans. She lived her Catholic faith deeply, wherever life took her, and stayed actively involved
in every parish she joined. She was also proud of her Hungarian roots—so much so that she
wrote a book about her childhood growing up a Magyar in Cleveland. And as much as she
accomplished, she always said her favorite job of all time was being Grandma Weez.
Louise leaves behind her three daughters: Kathleen Meneely (John) and Karen Dailey (Jeff) of
Punta Gorda, FL, and Sue Zimmerman (Keith) of Fremont, OH; her grandsons, Matthew (Cathy)
and Nathan (Brittany) Brotzki; and her precious great-granddaughter, Sierra. She is also survived
by her dear siblings—Marie Heysek (Bob), Bette Ingraham (Jim), and Bill Orosz (Jan)—along
with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and her beloved
parakeet, Gracie—all of whom she adored.
She is now reunited with her husband, Jim; her parents, Julius and Lillian Orosz; and her
siblings, Lillian and Charles.
A celebration Mass of Louise’s life will be held at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church 5550 Lear Nagle Rd. North Ridgeville, OH 44039 on Thursday, July 10, at noon, with visitation prior at Bogner Funeral Home in North Ridgeville, OH, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph
Catholic Cemetery in Fremont, OH, the following day.
At Lou’s request, please consider a donation in her memory to St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church.
