Lois A. Glawe's Obituary
Lois Amanda “Great Grammy” Glawe nee (Nickel), age 97, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed
away peacefully Tuesday, February 4, 2025, after spending 8 years at O’Neill Healthcare in North
Ridgeville. She was born in Cleveland, attended Lincoln High School, and had been a resident of
North Ridgeville since 1999 after moving from North Olmsted. Lois was born on June 9, 1927
along with her twin sister Eunice (now deceased). She was the second oldest of nine girls. On
September 4, 1948, she married William F. Glawe, the love of her life. She had been a member
of the Walther League in the 1940’s where she met her husband of 63 years. Lois and Bill raised
their three children in a loving faith filled home, attending Messiah Lutheran Church in Fairview
Park for over 40 years. They loved spending time in the Northwoods of Wisconsin each summer.
Later she became a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lorain along with her daughter Laura.
Lois had a beautiful soprano voice and loved to sing hymns for everyone she met. Lois loved to
compete by playing Pinochle and Yahtzee, and was an avid Cleveland and Ohio State sports
fan. She was an amazing seamstress, a dental assistant, and worked for Sun Newspaper. She
had a keen sense of humor and would light up a room. She always had a smile on her face and
made everyone and anyone feel special. Her strawberry rhubarb pie was legendary. At O’Neill,
she created amazing crafts and colored pencil drawings. She loved cardinals and every time we
see one we will think of her. Her real love was her family. She adored her loving daughter and
two sons and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She remembered all of the birthdays,
sent a card, and sang to each of them. She is survived by her daughter Laura Barnes of North
Ridgeville; sons Bruce (Gale) Glawe of Charlotte, NC, Pastor Jeff (Jackie) Glawe of Tipp City,
OH; grandchildren Garrett Glawe, Britney (Brian) Vanderheyden and Kirstin (Pat) Czerwiec.
Great-grandchildren Madelyn, Emma, Nolan, Luke, Avery, Maryn, Charlotte; siblings Ruth
Nehrenz, Grace Nemeth. Her husband William preceded her in death, as did her parents Roger
and Anna Nickel, granddaughter Jordan Glawe, son-in-law Tyrone Barnes, and six loving sisters.
Family will receive friends Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 2-5 pm at Bogner Family Funeral
Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd. North Ridgeville. Funeral service Monday at 9:30 am at Bogner
