Linda Herne's Obituary
Linda J. Herne (nee Placer), age 66, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a long illness.
She was born in Sistersville, West Virginia and had been a resident of Elyria for the last 20 years moving from Duncannon, Pennsylvania.
Linda worked as an Enrolled Agent for H & R Block in Elyria for 20 years, where she enjoyed her teaching role.
She was an active member and volunteer of Jesus Christ Community Church, Elyria.
Her top priority was spending time with her grandchildren, family and her sisters. She loved to read, attend Broadway shows and go on road trips with her sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Tonya Herne (Shawn Hapanowicz) of Avon; step-daughters, Christine Helms of Virginia, Mary (William) Fraley of Laurelville, Katy (Mel) Morris of Logan; step-son, Ken (Jean) Herne of Maryland; sisters and best friends Patricia (Butch) Schafer and Nancy (Thomas) DuBroy; 16 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip in 2008; daughter, Kim Pursel; parents, James and Maybelle Placer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Jesus Christ Community Church, 1420 South Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035. Rev. Gene Collins, Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be private at Ohio Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jesus Christ Community Church.
