Lillian I. McVeigh's Obituary
Lillian I. McVeigh (nee Starkey), age 88, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her home.
She was born in Elyria Twp. where she was a resident until moving to North Ridgeville in 1947.
Lillian worked as a sales clerk for Woolworth Department Store in Elyria and at Minute’s Greenhouse in North Ridgeville. She later worked as a waitress at Our House Assisted Living in Westlake.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in North Ridgeville and attended Good Hope Freewill Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Ladies Evening Society, the Ladies Benevolence Society, the Wednesday Morning Prayer group and the YWCA Attic Club in Elyria.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, canning, decoupage and other crafts, traveling and was also an usher at the Old Town Hall Theater.
Survivors include her daughter, Ellen McVeigh of North Ridgeville; sons, Glen (Kathy) McVeigh of Norwalk, Gary (June) McVeigh of Cleveland; 5 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; step-sister, Bobbie Bruder of Avon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold McVeigh in 1984; mother, Rita McVeigh; father, Harold Starkey step-mother, Margaret Leicher-Starkey and brother, Herbert Starkey.
Friends may call Friday from 3-8PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Saturday at 10AM at First Congregational Church, 36363 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Arik Borstad, Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Fields Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
