Gross obit for Sunday paper, Oct. 2, 2005
Leonard P. Gross, age 83, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Saturday morning at the Center Ridge Nursing Home, North Ridgeville; following a long illness.
He was born November 9, 1921 in Cleveland and had lived in North Ridgeville since 1966; having moved from Cleveland.
He was a member of Saint Peter Catholic Church, North Ridgeville.
Mr. Gross served in the United States Army during WWII.
He was a member of the North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 and the UAW Local 971, Elyria.
He worked as an inspector for the Bendix-Westinghouse Company, Elyria for 18 years and retired in 1982.
He enjoyed fishing, horse races and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Evelyn (nee Dodd) Gross; sons, Leon (Nancy) Gross, of Clarkston, MI, Karl Gross, of Bay Village and Ronald Gross, of North Ridgeville; daughter Evonne Gross, of North Ridgeville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Adalaide Mast, of Boise ID.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, L. Suzanne Gross; parents, Paul and Sophia (nee Grabowski) Gross; brothers, Joseph , Clarence and Felix Gross; sisters Sophie Redarowicz, Genevieve Regovich and Florence Matyjasik.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville; where prayers will be said at 9:30 AM on Tuesday. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
The VFW Post 9871 will conduct full Military honors at the cemetery.
