Leo Guggenbiller's Obituary
Leo John Guggenbiller, age 84 of North Ridgeville, died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
He was born November 15, 1919 in Sharpsburg, Ohio. He had resided in North Ridgeville since 1935 moving from St. Henry, Ohio.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9871, North Ridgeville.
Mr. Guggenbiller served in the US Army Air Corp during WW II. He was a recepeant of the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 6 bronze service stars.
He worked as a Plant Control Room Operator for the Cleveland Electric Illumination Company for 36 years, retiring in 1981.He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and camping.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Jean (nee Wood); Daughter, Trish Smith of Elyria; 6 Sons, Leo Guggenbiller Jr. of Geneva, OH, Robert Guggenbiller of North Ridgeville`, William Guggenbiller of Midland, NC, Mark Guggenbiller of North Ridgeville, Gerald Guggenbiller of North Ridgeville, Paul Guggenbiller of North Ridgeville; 14 grandchildren, 8 great granchildren; 2 Brothers, Charles Guggenbiller of North Ridgeville, Albert Guggenbiller of Medina; 2 Sisters, Matilda Mienerding of St. Henry, OH, Loretta Sprague of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by parents John and Mary Guggenbiller, son Michael, brothers, Norbert and Joseph and sister Clara Guggenbiller.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 Thursday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Friday. Mass of Christan Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Peter Church. Reverend Stephen Kaminski, Pastor will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery, North Ridgeville. The VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct full military honors.
