LaVerne A. Lindsey's Obituary
LaVerne A. Lindsey (nee Cobert), age 93, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Mt. Sterling, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Elyria since 1960 and was a former resident of Cleveland and Uniontown, PA.
LaVerne worked as an assembler for General Motors at the Elyria Fisher Guide Plant, retiring in 1987.
She attended Elyria Baptist Church and Grafton Baptist Church.
LaVerne was the life of the party making everyone around her laugh. She loved dancing, singing hymns; and more than anything, taking care of her family.
Survivors include her children, Alvin “Butch” (Mitzi) Lindsey II of Lagrange, Kenneth Lindsey, Susan (James) Meeks and daughter-in-law, Cindy Arwine all of Elyria, grandchildren, Mark (Lydia) Lindsey, Tonya (Joey) Opdyke, Brian (Gwen) Lindsey, James (Melissa) Hunt, Kenneth (Pam) Lindsey Jr., Krystal Moffit, Andrew Moyer (Marissa Parks), 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Audrey French of Elyria, brother, Bill Cobert of Smithville, PA, sisters-in-law, Stella Cobert of Fairchance, PA and Phyllis Cobert of Morgantown, WV and her beloved fur baby, Chi-Chi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, parents, Charles and Helen Cobert, brothers, Melvin, Tom and Dale Cobert, Bob and Bill Groves, sisters, Jean Wright, Judy Cobert Wiener and brother-in-law, John French.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Friday at 10AM in the funeral home. Chaplin Patrick McGervy will officiate. Services will be live streamed on Bogner Family Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Due to COVID 19, face coverings and proper social distancing is required.
Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
