Larry H. Thompson's Obituary
Larry H. Thompson, age 84, of Avon Lake formerly of North Ridgeville, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Joshua Tree Care Center in North Olmsted.
He was born in Pax, West Virginia and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1961 until moving to Avon Lake recently.
Larry served in the US Army in Korea from 1959-61 and was a member of VFW Post 9871, N. Ridgeville. He worked as a machine installer for Gardner Contracting Company in Cleveland for 32 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a longtime member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church in North Ridgeville where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Survivors include his daughter Linda (Richard) Quintana of Avon Lake, sons Matthew Thompson of Seffner, Florida, John Thompson of Ruskin, Florida, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sisters, Patricia (Chuck) McElroy of Elyria and Carolyn Giese of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, daughter Lisa and son-in-law Mark Axford, brothers Kenneth and Allen Thompson, sister Linda Sorensen, and his parents Dennie and Bethyl Thompson.
A graveside service will be held 1 PM Wednesday October 26, 2022 at Belden Cemetery on Route 303, just east of Route 83 in Grafton Township. Pastor Adam Hall will officiate. VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
