Larry Saumers' Obituary
Larry H. Saumers, age 97, of Rocky River, passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake, following a short illness.
He was born in Brook Park, Minnesota and just recently had moved to Rocky River from Largo, Florida where he had lived for the past 17 years. He previously resided in Palmetto, Florida and also Parma, where he lived for most of his life.
Mr. Saumers was at one time an owner and operator of a service station. He also worked doing home improvement and remodeling and sold real estate in Cape Coral, Florida.
He was a member of Anona Methodist Church, Largo, Florida.
Larry enjoyed silver smithing, making jewelry, playing cards, square dancing, golfing and traveling to 50 states.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Bayer-Saumers; daughters, Jean Dietz (Don Given) of Westlake, Nancy (Charles) Bowman of North Ridgeville; stepson, Robert (Patricia) Bayer of Sandy, Utah; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Crowe of Brooksville, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne in 1989; son, Dannie Saumers in 1991; parents, Jake and Kathryn Saumers and brothers, William and Elmer Saumers.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00AM at Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Jim McClaren will officiate.
