Larry Bryan McHargue's Obituary
Larry Bryan McHargue, age 64, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by family.
Born on January 6, 1961, Larry grew up in Monroe, Michigan and graduated from
Monroe High School in 1979. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education
from Spring Arbor University in 1983 and later obtained a Master’s degree in School
Administration from California State University, San Bernardino.
Larry married the love of his life, Stephanie, on July 31, 1987. He was a very loving and
fun husband, father and granddad. Providing for and spending time with his family was
a priority.
Larry dedicated his life to education. He began his career as a teacher and went on to
serve as an elementary school principal for 20 years. He retired from Robert E. Lake
Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked for a total of 29 years. His
commitment to students and staff left a lasting impact on the school community.
After retiring, Larry settled in North Ridgeville, having previously lived in Las Vegas and
Blythe, California. He was a devoted member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church in North
Ridgeville, where he served faithfully as a Deacon. Larry’s deep faith guided his life and
was evident in the way he shared his love for Jesus Christ with those around him.
Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Larry was passionate about tennis
and worked as a tennis pro who loved teaching the game. He also enjoyed golfing and
spending time playing board and card games. His greatest joy came from time spent
with his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, Stephanie (née Godek); two sons,
Stephen (Rebekah) McHargue and Loren McHargue; six grandchildren—Bryan, Owen,
Connor, Liam, Noah, and Sarah-Grace—all of North Ridgeville; his mother, Lyllus
McHargue; and sisters Lynda (Michael) Bleyaert and Lori (David) Walker of Monroe,
Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Luke McHargue.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 5 PM on Thursday,
June 26, 2025. Rev. Ernie Ross will follow the visitation by officiating a memorial service
beginning at 6 PM. Immediately following the service there will be a light dinner in the
church fellowship hall. These three events will take place at Sugar Ridge Baptist
