Larry Thomas Fields' Obituary
Larry Thomas Fields, age 78 of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully with loving family by his side, March 1, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic in Avon.
He was born April 27, 1939 in Kenova, West Virginia to the late Raymond Fields and Ella Mae Reed.
Larry attended West High School in Cleveland and went on to work as a truck driver for Yellow Freight System for over 30 years where he proudly served as a union steward for Teamsters Local 407 before retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Saint Julie Billiart Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and a founder, along with his wife, of Emmaus Spiritual Community in Cleveland OH.
Along with being a truck driver and Teamster, Larry owned and operated two pizzerias.
Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, and was passionate about setting a positive example for his grandchildren.
He was very proud and fond of his 1951 Ford and was an active member of the North Ridgeville Senior Center Car Club. He enjoyed attending car shows, singing and playing guitar and harmonica, gardening, and was an avid outdoorsman. Larry had a charismatic smile and personality, was very generous, and never met a stranger.
He is survived by the love of his life of nearly 59 years, Cecelia (nee Long); daughters, Karen (Don) Simo of Vermilion, Shannon (Patrick) Kennedy of North Ridgeville, Christian (Brian) Behrendt of Sheffield Lake; son, Larry “Tom” Jr (Toni) Fields of Vermilion; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Davis of Mentor, Patricia Endicott of South Point, Tammy (Bob) Ward of Mantua; brothers, Gary and Jeffrey Fields both of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie “Kelly” (survived by husband Mike) Morahan of Avon; granddaughter, Gracelyn Kennedy; brother, Paul “Joe” (survived by wife Carol) Fields of Parma Hts.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 25200 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070.
Arrangements are under the care of Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
