Kenneth Turner's Obituary
Kenneth J. “Jerry” Turner. age 78, of North Ridgeville , formerly of Warsaw, Indiana died Friday April 29, 2011.
Born in Tell City, Indiana and raised in Warsaw, he graduated in 1950 from Warsaw High School.
He served in the US Air Force from 1950-1954, during the Korean War, and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. After service, he attended Indiana University graduating in 1958 with an AB in Political Science. Mr. Turner served as a personnel officer in the US Civil Service for 30 years, retiring in 1987.
Mr. Turner was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion in Elyria. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and his grandchildren. Also, when he was younger he was an avid bowler and ping-pong player, winning several local and state titles.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Judy (nee Irons), sons Cy (Lori) of Exeter, CA, Roy (Kathi) of Lakewood, and Matt of Chillicothe, daughter Cheri (Steve) Mace of N. Ridgeville, six grandchildren, Kenneth James, Jenna, Katie, and Erin Turner, Maggie Mae and Dylan Mace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cy and Dorothy (nee Nice) Turner, his two younger brothers, Art and John Turner and a younger sister, Brenda Walls Whitaker.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8PM at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where services will be held 10 AM Tuesday. Pastor Bobby Blackburn of North Ridgeville Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will following at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
