Karl R. Bechtold's Obituary
Karl R. Bechtold, age 78, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cleveland, moved to Eaton Township in 1964 and had been a resident of Elyria since 1998.
Karl served in the U.S. Navy and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1079 in Elyria.
He worked as a meat manager for Schilds IGA in Norwalk, and was the International Meat Merchandiser of the Year in 1996 before retiring in 1998.
Karl enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Indians.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jeanette (nee Kroneker); children, Jim (Christi) of Wellington, Karleen (Ron) Kennedy of Eaton Twp., Mark (Crystal) of LaGrange, Janene (Damian) of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; mother, Jessie Bechtold of Elyria; brothers, Elmer (Elaine) of Strongsville, Ralph (Patricia) of Elyria; sister-in-law, Joan Bechtold of Parma.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phil Bechtold and brother, Phillip.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of a 12:00 noon Service at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 38307 Royalton Rd., Grafton, 44044 (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.)
Burial with Full Military Honors by V.F.W. 1079, Elyria will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp.
