Karen J. Brewer's Obituary
Karen J. Brewer, age 85, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, Ohio. Karen was born in Troy, Ohio to Lenore (nee Webster) and Walter Brademeyer.
Karen is survived by her brother Richard (Bev) Brademeyer of Ohio, brother-in-law Raymond Bromley Sr. of Alaska, nieces Jennifer Wilson of Ohio and Teresa (Terri) Wilkin-Shell of Alaska, nephews Tim Brademeyer of Michigan, Doug Brademeyer of Georgia, Stephen Wilkin II of Illinois and Raymond Bromley Jr. of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her parents Lenore and Walter, her sisters-in-law Carolyn Bromley and Marilyn Wilkin and brother-in-law Stephen Wilkin.
Karen attended the University of Dayton and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria. Karen and Rick were married for 56 years until his passing in 2023. They were the owners of three Book Rack bookstores for over 30 years. Karen also worked in Human Resources and as an administrative assistant. Her favorite position was working for the Cleveland Firefighters Union, finally retiring in 2025 when she was 84. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling and card games. Karen loved life and had an amazing laugh that brightened up the room.
Karen’s family would like to thank the Ames Family Hospice House, Home Instead and her private caregivers Ildi and Arpi Kish for the amazing care, love and support she received during the last year to truly give her the best quality of life possible.
Friends may call on Friday, April 24 from 5-7 pm at Bogner Family Funeral Home. There will be a funeral mass on Saturday, April 25, beginning at 11:30 am at St. Jude Catholic Church 590 Poplar St, Elyria, OH 44035. Reverend Jose Fifin will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ames Hospice House in Westlake, Ohio.
