Judith A. "Judy" Janas' Obituary
Judith A. “Judy” Janas (nee Caywood), age 91, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 30, 1932 in Lorain and has been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1964. She was a past parishioner at St. Paul Lutheran in Westlake and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Avon.
Judy worked as a registered nurse at several local hospitals, including Berea Hospital, St. Joseph and Lorain Community. She retired in 1991 from Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain and was very proud of her career in nursing.
She enjoyed animals, especially raising horses and was a committed supporter of the A.P.L. and Love a Stray Cat Rescue. Her home became the home for many strays over the years, including dogs, cats, rabbits, a young colt and piglet.
Judy is survived by her son Thomas (Amy) Janas of Doylestown; daughters Debra Janas (Todd Hecker) of North Ridgeville and Kathryn Janas of Mentor; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way, due in October; sister JoAnn Ridenour of Marion, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ben; parents Ellis and Margaret (nee Schaefer) Caywood; brothers Richard and Robert Fields and Ronald Meermans; sisters Doris Ratcliffe, Judith “Betty” Sobczak, Lois Banones and Carol Chandler.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Tuesday, September 26 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Jeff Smith will officiate. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Judy’s name to the Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035.
