Joseph Wohlever's Obituary
Joseph Leo Wohlever, age 89, of Grafton, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the North Ridge Health Center, North Ridgeville following a short illness.
He was born in Ridgeville Township and had been a resident of the North Ridgeville area for most of his life until moving to Grafton in 1997.
Mr. Wohlever served the in US Army in the Ohio Infantry, Division 37, during WWII.
He worked for 40 years for Conrail as a Yard Conductor, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, North Ridgeville, and the Brotherhood of Trainsmen Union. He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include daughter Janet (Lawrence) Jaycox of Grafton; sons, Donald of Milford, Delaware, Alan of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Raymond of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marian Malone of North Ridgeville, Teresa Vessalo of North Ridgeville; Brother Leo J. Jr. of North Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther in 1998; son, Lawrence J. in 1957; granddaughter, Cheryl Wohlever in 1969; sisters, Catherine Barnard, Ruth Becker, Irene Klingshirn, Mary Agnes Lenzer; brothers, Charles W. James W. and parents, Leo and Gertrude Wohlever.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. A Prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Monday in the funeral home followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church. Rev. Dr. Richard Gonser will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. The VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct full military honors at the gravesite.
