Joseph E. Scina Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph E. Scina Sr., age 75, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Born on August 26, 1949 in Cleveland, he has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 7 years, moving from North Olmsted where he raised his family with his wife Ruth. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and went on to become a stationary engineer at Arcelor Mittal steel, retiring in 2012 after 34 years of service. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Brendan Church in North Olmsted. Joe was a Cleveland sports fan that both followed and attended as many games as he could, baseball was his favorite sport. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and friends making lasting memories that became fun stories to share. He was always working on projects around the house and helping others. The summer months throughout his life would find him out on fishing trips, camping and enjoying the outdoors. Joe’s greatest joy was found in spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children Stacey (Daniel) Lopriore, Joseph E. Jr. (Katie) Scina, Stephen (Christie) Scina, Edward (Carolyn) Scina, Rebecca Scina, and Andrew (Michelle) Scina; grandchildren Hailey, Jessica, Vincent, Nicholas, Kandice, Emily, Claire, Marissa, Joshua, Gavin, Gwen, Chelsea (Anthony) Oscar and Kyli (Joseph Valente); great grandchildren Hayden, Elias and Tristen; brother Michael (Carrie) Scina; sister Terri (Joe) Granato; sister-in-law Carol Scina; many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Ruth (nee Davies); great grandson Tye; parents Jennie (nee Ballachino) and Joseph Gusty; brother Anthony Scina.
Memorial Service with Full Military Honors will be on Saturday, May 31 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Tom Woost will officiate. A joint interment of Joseph and Ruth will be on Monday, June 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brookpark Road, Brook Park, 44142 (PLEASE JOIN THE LINE OF CARS AT THE FRONT GATE OF THE CEMETERY BY 12:45).
