Joseph J. Matlak's Obituary
Joseph J. Matlak, age 90, of Marblehead, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.
He was born in Lakewood and had been a resident of Marblehead for over 20 years. Prior to that, he lived in Bay Village and Sheffield Lake.
Joseph served in the Battle of the Bulge in US Army during WWII.
He worked as a manager in airport operations at Cleveland Hopkins
Airport for over 30 years. After retiring, he went on to become a bus driver for the Westlake City Schools, where he worked for 10 years.
Joseph was a member of the VFW in Marblehead and the American Legion in Sandusky.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, jet skiing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his companion of several years, Diane Christian of North Ridgeville; step-daughter, Anne (Daniel) Kundtz of Avon Lake; step-grandchildren, Emily, Casey and Maggie Kundtz; nephews, Brian and Mark Matlak.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Matlak in 2006; brother, Andrew Matlak; step-son, George Kingsbury, just last month and parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Matlak.
Private services will be held at a later date.
